There is a lot of talk about love this week, with Valentine’s Day upon us. We show the ones we care about that we love them by buying a card, candy, and flowers, etc. Sometimes the gifts are extravagant, and other times they are simple, but it is no less showing our love.

But the greatest example of love this world has ever seen was the love of God for the people He created. God had a plan for His creation, but His love was not controlling. He gave the people free will, and they chose to go against His plan. But God never stopped loving them. No, He pursued after them, wooing them back to Himself.

All through the Bible we can see God showing His love for His people. He gave them protection, supplied their needs, and desired to have relationship with them. And in a moment in time, God showed His greatest display of love. He sent Jesus to this earth, to be among the people, to walk and talk with them, to eat and drink with them, to touch them. He laughed and cried with them.  God longed to show His people who He was and is. To demonstrate His love, He prepared a way to once again have communion and fellowship with His people, through the sacrifice of His Son on the cross.

God never turned His back on His creation, it was in our free will that we turned our backs on Him. Through our free will we sinned against our God, our Creator. It is through Jesus that God made a way back to Himself, by putting all of our sin upon Jesus, and looking away from His only Son, because He cannot look upon sin.

Show me any greater love. Show me any purer love. On this earth, in any period of time, there is none. God is still longing to have relationship with His people, but it is our choice. He will never make us love Him.

God wants you to know that He loves you with an unconditional, pure love. He knows everything there is to know about you, after all, He knew you when you were formed in secret. He has written your name in the palms of His hands. He knows each hurt and scar, and every tear you cry He catches and saves. If that isn’t love!

Do you want to know this love? You can. Call out to Jesus. He is just a prayer away. Jesus will hear you, He will come to you, and His love will wash over you, and fill you. Your life will never be the same.
