After a long, cold winter I find myself excited that the sun is shining more. I don’t mind the drizzling rain that will melt the mountains of snow winter left. The temperatures are rising. The same 40 degrees that required a jacket in the fall, feels like short sleeve weather after the bitter cold. Yes, spring is near.
It’s a new season. Trees that have been dormant, will awake from their sleep. The flowers will soon bloom bringing bright colors and fragrance. New life is upon us. I feel a stirring in my spirit, something new is coming.
I believe just as God ordained the seasons, times for planting and harvest, He also ordained the times in our lives when things would come to an end, so new things could begin. It isn’t always easy. We feel loss and uncertainty. We want to hold to what we know, and He is asking us to trust Him as He breathes a gentle breath into our lives and brings us into a new season.
In the seasons of our lives there are times of preparing, times of work, times of waiting, and times of seeing the hard work come to fruition. There are times when we think something is done, only to find a time of rest was needed. Often we think our work was in vain, only to see the fruit come later.
When God asks us to walk in a new season, it will bring forth growth. It will prepare you for the next season that He wants to take you. Growing is painful. Pruning is involved, so that the plant brings forth the best fruit. There are rainy seasons: times of plenty, and joy. We see God’s faithfulness and trust in His goodness. There are also times of drought: lack, and sadness. In these times, we find it harder to trust what He is doing in us. However, He sees the end result. He sees the beauty that will come from this season.
I have to trust in His promise that He works all things for the good, to them which are called according to His purpose. Yes, the pruning may hurt, but only for a while. I can see that it will allow growth, it will bring strength to my life. My branches reach higher, my roots dig deeper. The winds may blow, but I am planted firm. I will bloom, and bring forth much fruit.
I am ready to see what this new season will bring.
“[Most] blessed is the man who believes in, trusts in, and relies on the Lord,
and whose hope and confidence the Lord is.
For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters
that spreads out its roots by the river;
and it shall not see and fear when heat comes; but its leaf shall be green.
It shall not be anxious and full of care in the year of drought,
nor shall it cease yielding fruit.”
Jeremiah 17:7-8 (AMP)
