Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 (NLT)
Have you faced something that you have prayed numerous times about, crying out, asking God to take it from you? Have you asked Him to lift that burden that seems so heavy, but it still lingers?
I know I have. I have prayed for some hardships to be lifted and removed. I have declared over situations that I am a child of the King, that my Heavenly Father is my Provider, my Comforter, my Defender, believing on the promises of His Word, and it seems that nothing changes, if anything, the problem gets more intense and burdensome.
When I feel like I cannot take another step, when the weight of the struggle looms over my head, when my weakness is all I see, that is when His grace is enough. For when I cannot take another step, when I cannot lift the burden, He is waiting. He stands at attention, ever mindful of my situation, waiting for me to call out to Him. When I cannot take another step, He will come and carry me.
I cannot make it in this life alone. I need a Savior, a Redeemer, a Healer. When the weight of my burdens pushes me to the ground, and I cannot get back up, I cry out to Him, and Christ comes to me, lifts me from the ground, wraps His loving arms around me, and walks beside me, helping me to bear the weight. He reminds me that it is not my job to carry the burdens of this life alone. He knows the weight, and He wants to help carry it. For in my weakness, He is strong.
I know you have struggles, and burdens. We all do. Many times we think we have to carry it alone. We think we have to prove we are strong enough, that we don’t need help. Our own sufficiency to handle problems and carry burdens give us a false sense of strength. We have no strength. If we try to carry it all on our shoulders, we stumble and fall, our head hangs low, and our eyes fall from looking to Jesus.
Turn your eyes to Jesus, cry out to Him. Let Him know that you are weak, and burdened down, for in that very moment you will feel His hands lift you. He will come when you cannot take another step, and walk beside you. When your strength fails, He will give you His strength. His strength is made perfect in your weakness. It is made perfect in your trouble, because you give it to Him to take care of. He will not just take your troubles. He cannot take them, for He sees what you will be after you get through that trouble. He is there to help, if you just ask Him.
He will help you through every dark shadow, low valley, and rough place you walk. He will be right there with you, sharing the weight, sharing His strength. Don’t take the load back from Him, you cannot carry it alone. You were never meant to carry it alone.
He stands with His hands outstretched to you. He wants to help you, but you won’t ask for His help. Call out to Him! Trust Him! He will come running to you. His love for you is so strong, nothing could keep Him from you. There is no distance that would keep Him away.
Jesus is saying to you and I, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.”
